English: The Oliver Rice House, also know as the Rice Homestead is located at 328 Riceville Road (Old NY-30) in Mayfield, New York. It was built c.1810, with a side wing built in 179 appended to it between 1810 and 1847. Other expansions took place through 1936. The grounds also contain a 19th century smokehouse and other outbuildings dating from the 20th century. It is operated by the Mayfield Historical Society as their headquarters and a museum.
Oliver Rice was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War who served under General George Washington. |
