Deutsch: Das Olympische Tor des Olympiastadions Berlin bei Nacht. Rechts neben dem Tor steht die sogenannte Podbielski-Eiche; sie wurde beim Bau des Stadions (1934-36) aus dem Bestand des Grunewaldes bewusst stehen gelassen. Die Eiche sollte das deutsche Gegenstück zum heiligen Ölbaum darstellen.
English: The Olympic Gate and the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Right beside the gate stands the so called Podbielski Oak; the oak was spared out while building the stadium (in 1934-36). It should represented the german counterpart of the traditional greek olive tree. |
