Description
English: Lieutenant R.E. Partridge, 1st Battalion. Dorsetshire Regiment, 5.30a.m. 2nd Sept. 1914, after a night's rest under a stack. On THE RETREAT about 25 miles east of Paris. This stack was the Battalion Headquarters' bivouac for the night. Lt. Col. Bols and his Adjt. Capt. Ransome slept alongside.
