Summary
editDescriptionOn ferry on the Lake Toba, Sumatra 2000.jpg |
English: My guide's van on the ferry from the town of Parapat on the shore of Lake Toba to Samosir Island (which is actually connected to the shore by an isthmus).
Lake Toba is a natural lake that formed in the caldera of a supervolcano. Its eruption around 75,000 years ago is believed to be the largest explosive eruption on Earth in the last 25 million years. The Toba catastrophe theory posits that a “global winter” may have resulted lasting six to ten years.
