English: On the way to Okehampton This is the Exeter to Okehampton Sunday service which runs along the private Dartmoor railway. The BR passenger service to Okehampton was withdrawn in 1972. With Devon County Council funding a service has run on selected Sundays in the summer. Much of this former main line is now quite overgrown. This was once a double track railway which served Plymouth via Tavistock and was most useful when the seas demolished the sea wall route at Dawlish. The through route from Okehampton to Bere Alston was shut in May 1968. |
