The opening ceremony was followed by the XVIIth conference "European Carrefour on Science and Culture" on the theme "Towards a Knowledge Society." The conferences are regular events organised by the Forward Studies Unit of the EC where representatives from the worlds of the arts and culture, universities and civil society gather together. Jacques Delors, former President of the EC, and President of the Administrative Board of the College of Europe, gave the speech at the opening of the conference. |
