O Grupamento representativo da MB, deixou a área do Primeiro Distrito Naval (RJ) em 27 de março de 1960, marchando a pé, por 23 dias ininterruptos até Brasília percorrendo uma distância de 1.221 Km, estabelecendo uma média de 53 Km por dia, chegando ao Distrito Federal em 20 de abril. A Marinha do Brasil (MB) fez-se representar com um contingente misto de Marinheiros e Fuzileiros Navais. O destacamento era composto por 76 fuzileiros da CiaReconAnf, 24 fuzileiros do Batalhão Riachuelo, 20 marinheiros voluntários, 02 oficiais médicos e 02 civis funcionários da Ford. Juntos, participaram do que foi considerada a MAIOR MARCHA realizada na história militar do homem em tempo de paz. Uma verdadeira epopeia que segundo o Presidente Juscelino Kubitscheck foi comparada à façanha dos pioneiros, que desbravaram o interior, construindo um novo país: “Poderiam ter ido num avião-transporte, em caminhões ou de trem. Mas se o fizessem, não dariam tanto realce à participação da Marinha na inauguração de Brasília. Esse reide a pé teve uma expressão de integração do homem com a terra e reviveu, de certo modo, as façanhas dos bandeirantes que desbravaram o longínquo e misterioso oeste”. |
