English: Ouse washes, Welches Dam This area of fenland has been designed to take excess water - to prevent flooding elsewhere. Leveed banks (such as the one the photographer is standing on) contain the water until river levels drop. A mid-afternoon autumnal storm produced this unusual lighting. |
