Description
English: Overgrown Camel's Hump A strange title you may think ! The explanation is that when we were children we used to play around this area for hours on end, and each little part had its own name. Some were personal to us; others were in more or less common usage - one of the latter was the Camel's Hump. This was an undulating ridge of land which fell away steeply on each side, for perhaps 15 or 20 feet (5m ish) in places. On top of this ridge was a narrow path that we used to walk along to get to the cliff face - for a spot of mountaineering (that our parents were blissfully unaware of) ! This area is now much overgrown with briars - but a little of the old Camel's Hump can just be glimpsed in this photo, right in the middle of the image as a bald fawn bump amidst the vegetation. In fact this area is part of another overgrown and disused quarry site, hence the ridges and bumps and the cliff face.
