English: Directional signage at Draper Park in Owego, New York points the way for visitors to the Owego Riverwalk, as seen on a frigid February 2022 evening. Named for Amos Draper, who in 1787 was the first white man to settle in what's now Owego, this is the larger of the two riverfront parks that bookend the Riverwalk, both of which were established in 1926 under the initiative of village president Charles D. Marvin to mark the sesquicentennial of the Declaration of Independence. The Riverwalk itself was built in 2010, a three-block pedestrian promenade whose dual purpose is to provide a pleasant environment for Owegoans to enjoy their waterfront while also preventing shoreline erosion from the swift-flowing waters of the Susquehanna.
