English: Owen's Acre in Bear Mead Owen's Acre is a square field of 1 acre, surrounded by high blackthorn hedges covered in white flowers in April. The field is shown unchanged in the 1813 Inclosure map, was bought by its present owner at Auction in 2002, to prevent dumping by allowing the very thorny hedges to grow and make access difficult. Beloved by roe deer, Owen's Acre is covered with curious plants in early summer. |
