editDescriptionOzark State Zephyr certificate 1936.JPG |
English: Speed record certificate given to those aboard the initial (non-service) run of the Ozark State Zephyr from St. Louis to Kansas City (which would become the train's regular route). The initial run was similar to that of the Pioneer Zephyr's "Dawn to Dusk", where only railroad officials and those invited by the railroad were on board. Three days after this initial run, the Ozark State Zephyr was put into revenue service. On its run, the new Zephyr set a speed record for trains in the state of Missouri. The route was jointly operated by the Burlington and Alton railroads. It's signed by Ralph Budd, President of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, the vice-president of the Alton Railroad and the president of the St. Louis Chamber of Congress.
