| Description |
Valkenburg, 14 January 2005. On this day the oldest Dutch aircraft squadrons 320 and 321 were disbanded. I took this photo on the flight line after the disbandment ceremony. Both squadrons were formed on 1 June 1940 in Pembroke Dock (Wales) by Dutch Navy personnel that had escaped occupied Holland. (The first Dutch Air Force squadron was only formed three years later.) 320 flew with (among others) Lockheed Hudson, B-25 Mitchell, Lockheed Harpoon, P2V-5 + P2V-7 Neptune and P-3 Orion. 321 flew with Catalina, B-24 Liberator, Martin Mariner, Douglas C-47, Lockheed Neptune, Br1150 Atlantic and Lockheed P-3 Orion. |
