No. 84 Squadron was re-equipped with the Mustang in May 1945, though the war ended before the Squadron had converted to these new aircraft. No 84 Squadron was disbanded at RAAF Base Townsville on 29 January 1946. Mustang A68-565 of Squadron Leader Cox of 84 Squadron RAAF crash landed after an engine failure on take-off from Ross River airfield near Townsville on 7 August 1945 and was destroyed. | ||
