Description
English: 070329-N-6274T-035 SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 29, 2007) - Republic of Korea Ship Sinseong (PCC-783) patrols the water as a wave of U.S. Marine Corps helicopters fly overhead, during an assault on Manripo Beach, South Korea in support of Exercise Foal Eagle. More than 4,400 Sailors and Marines from the United States and Republic of Korea participated in this year's Exercise Foal Eagle, Foal Eagle is an annually scheduled combined/joint exercise involving forces in resolve to support the ROK against any external aggression while improving ROK and U.S. combat readiness through joint/combined interoperability. Essex is the Navy's only forward/deployed multi-purpose amphibious assault ship and is sailing with Foal Eagle Amphibious Task Force, operating off the west coast of Korea.
