| Description |
English: Pacific Gas & Electric's Station I is, or was, an electrical substation located on 8th Street between Mission and Minna Streets in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood of San Francisco, California. In 1912, it was reported that Station I had a "Type 43 Gould storage battery of 132 cells for emergency use on the Edison three-wire system" with each cell having 43 plates. The battery had "four motor-driven high-speed self-regulating end-cell switches" and could provide "10,000 kilowatt minutes". The battery was a reserve for the one at PG&E's Fern Avenue substation.
