Inv 579; KOORLEZENAAAR VAN DE AKOLIETEN (afb. 250), tweede kwart XVIIde; eeuw, door Cornelis RULANDT, brons 168 cm; marmeren voetstuk,; ca9 cm.; Vierkante basis waarop de merktekens (zie beneden) ; schacht in de; vorm van een gegroefd zuiltje ; gebeeldhouwde schachtring met twee; cherubs, ooievaars, vruchtenfestoenen en bladkrans.; Corintisch kapiteeltje, dat sedert de laatste tentoonstelling omgekeerd; is teruggeplaatst (typisch voorbeeld van de haastige zorgeloosheid; waarmede de voorwerpen na tentoonstellingen soms worden teruggebracht);; dubbele draaibare lessenaar op vier maskervoluten met; opengewerkte vlakken : cherubs, rolwerk, festoenen. Kleine, later toegevoegde; opengewerkte boekensteun aan het zuiltje.; De merken op de basis zijn die van de stad Gent, gekroonde G en; van Cornelis RULANDT. volgens J. Squilbeck verzocht deze geelgieter; in 1638 te Gent een atelier op te richten. Daar hij in 1641; in deze stad overleed, werd de koorlezenaar steeds gedateerd tussen; 1638-1641. Het blijkt echter dat C. Rulandt reeds ten minste in; 1629 te Gent werkzaam was, vermits de balusters van de Sint-; Ivokapel, door hem vervaardigd, uit dat jaar dagtekenen; Derhalve moet 1638 niet per se als terminus post quem beschouwd; worden.
