Description
English: Annually, citizens of a country whose culture revolve around the lunisolar calendar celebrates a festival known as the mid-autumn festival to celebrate the autumn harvest. In this picture is a structure of a Dragon, hand-crafted using various materials such as colored paper and plastic sheets, decorated with colorful LED lights. This structure is made by citizens of different regions of the Tuyen Quang province in celebration. They are put on a large mobile platform, equipped with engines upon finishing, and will be driven out to the display area in Tuyen Quang city. This structure in particular shows a dragon, a mythical animal in Vietnamese culture. The Dragon is of utmost significance to Vietnamese citizens, as, according to folklore, we were originally born of the king of dragonkind Lạc Long Quân and the fairy goddess Âu Cơ. Moreover, the Dragon is also an animal on the Chinese Zodiac - one that many East Asian countries also follow. It is believed that individuals born on the Dragon year will be very successful in life. This picture is able to portray the many important beliefs and traditions that Vietnamese people celebrate.
