I've been around her photograph for most of my life and i've always been struck by the stern face with the warm eyes. - Robert Paarlberg, great-great grandson
One of my favorite stories comes from "The first 100 Years - First Reformed Church of South Holland - 1848-1948" where it relates: "The gathering of saints was always her (Antje Paarlberg) delight. Before the Hollanders of the community had regular meetings, she would on occasion, in borrowed bonnet, plot along the Indian trail to attend English services in the town of Thornton, where, although she understood not a word, she would be uplifted buy the very atmosphere of prayer and song and scripture."
