English: Lower Masts.

A – Upper portion of a built Wooden-mast:
1. Mast-head tenon; 2. Mast-head; 3. Hound; 4. Cheek; Hound-piece; 5. Mast-hoops; 6. Truss-hoop; 7. Side-piece; 8. Hounding (that portion of a mast between the hound and the deck).
B – Lower portion of a built Wooden-mast:
1. Tenon; Heel-tenon; 2. Housing (that part of a mast under deck); 3. Mast-hoops.
C – Upper portion of an Iron or Steel-mast:

1. Cap; Lower-mast-cap; 3. Trestle-tree; 4. Cheeks; Hound-pieces; 5. Truss-hoop; 6. Butt-straps.
