DescriptionPachydermoperiosteosis image.jpg	Français : La pachydermopériostose ou ostéoarthropathie hypertrophique primaire est souvent familiale. On croit que la maladie est héréditaire selon un schéma autosomique dominant à pénétrance variable; Cependant, des formes autosomiques récessives ont été rapportées. La pachydermopériostose ou ostéoarthropathie hypertrophique primaire a été cartographiée à la bande 4q33-q34, et des mutations dans HPGD, codant pour la 15-hydroxyprostaglandine déshydrogénase, l'enzyme clé de la dégradation des prostaglandines, ont été identifiées. Les individus ayant des mutations homozygotes ont des taux de prostaglandine E2 chroniquement élevés. Des manifestations biochimiques et cliniques plus modérées sont observées chez les individus hétérozygotes. Le facteur de croissance endothélial vasculaire est exprimé de façon anormale chez certains patients atteints de pachydermopériostose ou d'ostéoarthropathie hypertrophique primaire. Des taux accrus d'interleukine 6 et d'activateur récepteur du ligand du facteur nucléaire kappaB (RANKL) ont été rapportés dans le sérum d'un patient atteint de pachydermopériostose ou d'ostéoarthropathie hypertrophique
