Description

Pacific Electric 1590. Date, location and photographer unknown. Scanned from an 8x10 photographic print from M D McCarter.

Pacific Electric 1590-1591 were built in 1920 by Baldwin Westinghouse for a railway in Cuba, but that road was unable to take delivery. Pacific Electric picked them up as a bargain.

They were small motors, only rated at 300 horsepower, and weighed just 87,000 lbs. They were perfect for light work on the Riverside to San Bernardino line, and spent their entire life there.

Both were placed on the Torrance deadline in January, 1952, and were sold for use in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
