Description |
English: The Pacific Coast Steamship Company was an important early shipping company that operated steamships on the west coast of North America. Organized in 1867 under the name of Goodall, Nelson and Perkins, the company effectively ceased business in 1916 when its vessels were purchased by the Admiral Line. The Admiral Line (also American Mail Line, and later Admiral Oriental Line) was a steamship company based in Seattle which operated five ocean liners sailing from Seattle to Japan and China. The Admiral Line also adopted the name "The Pacific Steamship Company," which it used until 1936 when operations ceased.
This map from 1917 advertises both southeastern Alaska excursions from Seattle to Skagway and Sitka and southwestern Alaska routes from Seattle to Anchorage and Kodiak. A cut out in the upper right shows connecting admiral line service in Seattle to California and Asia.
