| Description |
English: In May, the temperature rises to above 40 degree Celsius in Central Punjab, where Pakpattan is located. Pakistan depends heavily on this region for food and for this reason even in this soaring heat the villagers refuse to abandon their work for the comfort of their houses and continue to work in the fields. They are growing rice, a staple food for the people in Punjab. Lassi ( a local drink prepared by blending milk and yogurt in water and ice) is a life saver and the addition of Rooh Afza (a South Asian non-alcoholic concentrated squash) adds the requisite sweetness. A dip in the cold tube-well water is the best thing that can happen to you in the mid-day heat. |
