Em 1977, esta propriedade foi adquirida pelo Ministério da Justiça, que aí instalou, desde 1980, a Procuradoria-Geral da República, orgão superior do Ministério Público. Edifício datado dos finais do séc. XVIII, foi projetado em 1792 pelo arq. Manuel Caetano de Sousa para sua residência. Adquirido em hasta pública, em 1823, por Henrique Teixeira de Sampaio, futuro 1º conde da Póvoa, o imóvel foi objeto de intervenção, possivelmente sob a orientação do arq. Luigi Chiari, resultando desta campanha de obras a capela, a escadaria nobre, assim como o seu aspeto atual, na generalidade. Por herança o palácio veio à posse dos Palmela, a partir de meados do séc. XIX, conhecendo novas intervenções durante esse período, nomeadamente o acrescento do andar superior, a construção do Pavilhão Escultórico no jardim, o revestimento exterior com placagem de cantaria de mármore rosa, a reformulação da porta principal, a construção do portão de acesso à rampa do jardim, entre outras. Classificado como Interesse Público, este imóvel traduz uma arquitetura eclética, cujo alçado principal surge estruturado em 4 pisos, destacando-se a porta principal, de verga encurvada, ladeada por 2 esculturas alegóricas, de A. Calmels, representando o "Trabalho" e a "Força Moral", o remate da entrada coroado por frontão curvo, interrompido pelas armas dos duques de Palmela, a cornija saliente que marca a passagem para o último piso, a varanda ondulada do andar nobre e o trabalho em ferro forjado do gradeamento das varandas. No interior, muito bem decorado, encontramos quadros de Sequeira, Vieira Portuense e Vieira Lusitano, esculturas de Soares dos Reis e Teixeira Lopes, porcelanas, faianças, esmaltes de Limoges, entre outros. <a href="https://informacoeseservicos.lisboa.pt/contactos/diretorio-da-cidade/palacio-palmela" rel="noreferrer nofollow">informacoeseservicos.lisboa.pt/contactos/diretorio-da-cid...</a> |
