Description
English: Panibil Pukhuri, a pond situated at Sivasagar district, Assam was dug during Ahom reign. It's area is approx. 10 bighas. Before it's name was Sonadoi pukhuri. It was dug by ahom king Gadadhar Singha to commemorate a girl "Sonamoti" who helped him in his exile period. Later, cricis of water occured in that area and only this pond was filled by water. All natives used to take water from this pond, so the name became "Panibil". Several species of water plants like water chestnut, water lilies are found here. Those attracts so many birds.
