Português: Composição do basalto de quatro sistemas de rifte continental. As duas linhas paralelas marcam os limites do arranjo da Islândia mostrada na Figura 1; O + representa a composição do manto primitivo. Os dados da divisão do Quênia são de Macdonald et al. (2001); Dados do rift ocidental de James (1995); Dados do Mar do Norte de Latin (1990) e Latin et al. (1990); Western United Dados de Estados de Fitton et al. (1991); Dados de Smoky Butte de Fraser et al. (1985); Dados do Scottish Midland Valley de Smedley (1986) e Wallis (1989). Dados de Ph.D. teses e outros dados não publicados e de Fitton et al. (1991) estão disponíveis no repositório de dados GSA (consulte a nota de rodapé 1). Idades de vulcanismo de Ebinger (1989; rift ocidental); Latin et al. (1990; Bacia do Mar do Norte); Fitton et al. (1991; Basin and Range); Macdonald (2003; fenda oriental); Upton et al. (2004; Scottish Midland Vale). Com exceção dos primeiros (16 a 5 Ma) basaltos da Bacia e da Cordilheira, a maioria dos basaltos são tipo OIB. A composição dos primeiros basaltos da Basin and Range é melhor explicada pela mistura com um componente enriquecido, representados por lamproítos, no manto litosférico subcontinental.
