In this genus the males and females both have separated eyes but this is a female as the male eyes are not as widely separated. Seen from above the frons gradually widens. Front tibia without dark dorsal patch and face not that extended, discounting female consimilis. Hind margin of head with only yellow hairs (see photo 1), a diagnostic character for P. versicolor. If some black hairs had been present along with the yellow this would indicate the fly was a female P. fructetorum. |
