Summary edit

Description
English: The confluence of the Parker River and Plum Island Sound. The sheds in the center are the maintenance center of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. A small motor vessel is shown leaving the river for the sound. In colonial times 50-60 ton sailing vessels followed that same course in a much deeper Parker River. Newburyport did not then exist and the harbor was inaccessible. There is little sign of a port now at Newbury.
