Description

Situado na bonita cidade das Caldas da Rainha, o Parque D. Carlos I é um lindíssimo jardim romântico do século XIX, bem no centro histórico da cidade. O Parque foi criado em 1889, num projecto assinado pelo arquitecto Rodrigo Berquó e foi posteriormente remodelado em 1948, num novo projecto paisagístico de Francisco Caldeira Cabral.

Esta refrescante zona verde funcionava como um importante complemento ao importante Hospital Termal que deu nome à cidade. Após ter experimentado os benefícios das águas termais da localidade, a Rainha D. Leonor, mulher de D. Manuel I, ordenou a construção de um hospital, à volta do qual se formou a povoação que assim ficou conhecida como "Caldas da Rainha".

O Parque está hoje dotado das mais variadas estruturas como um lago, court de ténis, coreto, casa de chá e esplanada, encontrando-se em toda a sua área diversos trabalhos de escultura, dando também acesso a outro dos maiores pontos de interesse das Caldas: o Museu de José Malhoa, também do século XIX, reunindo importantes colecções de arte Portuguesa, com destaque para o maravilhoso conjunto da obra de José Malhoa (1855 – 1933). <a href="http://www.guiadacidade.pt/portugal/index.php?G=monumentos.ver&artid=17031&distritoid=10" rel="nofollow">www.guiadacidade.pt/portugal/index.php?G=monumentos.ver&a...</a>
