Description
Português: Esta Unidade de Conservação abriga o último remanescente de Cerrado preservado na região Metropolitana de São Paulo. Tem, como símbolos, a seriema, ave típica do cerrado e de fácil observação, e o ponto mais alto do parque, com 942 metros de altitude. O Parque possui 1 927,70 hectares, com áreas de Mata Atlântica e Cerrado, abrigando uma rica biodiversidade de plantas e animais. As áreas da Fazenda Juquery foram adquiridas pelo Estado em 1895 no governo Dr. José Cerqueira Cezar para a implantação do Hospital Psiquiátrico do Juquery (projetado pelo arquiteto Ramos de Azevedo) e da Colônia Agrícola. O Complexo Juquery vem disponibilizando, ao longo do tempo, terras para o município de Franco da Rocha e para o que é, hoje, o Parque Estadual do Juquery.
