Description el betún en la cara se usa para caracterizar a los esclavos. PARRANDA DE SAN PEDRO La Parranda de San Pedro se celebra en las poblaciones mirandinas de Guarenas y Guatire cada el 29 de junio. El festejo consiste en una representación dramática protagonizada por los siguientes personajes: el Abanderado, San Pedro, el Cargador, María Ignacia, los Tucusitos, los Sampedreños Danzantes, La Diabla, el Sampedreñito y los Músicos-Cantores. Se dice que esta fiesta se originó en el siglo XIX, cuando la esclava María Ignacia salió cantando y bailando por el pueblo con su niña en los brazos agradeciéndole a San Pedro la curación de su pequeña hija. Cuentan que año tras año María Ignacia repitió el ritual de gracias al Santo y que después de muerta su esposo siguió manteniendo viva la tradición, razón por la cual este personaje es interpretado por un hombre. La celebración de la parranda se inicia el día anterior con cantos y bailes hasta la medianoche. Al día siguiente se realiza una misa en honor a San Pedro. De allí la imagen sale en procesión por el pueblo. Durante la procesión los Sampedreños cantan coplas, a las que responde el coro. A estos cantos acompañan el cuatro, maraca y el conjunto de tambor redondo. Algunos personajes de la parranda se hacen sonar también sus cotizas (zapatillas) contra el piso. En la población de Guatire se produce el encuentro de los santos: San Pedro y San Juan, que bailan frente a frente llevados por los promeseros.
