Description

Past Lopoc, CA. Highway 1 crests over a pass in the Traverse Ranges.

Headed down to the ocean again which is now to the south. There is a big turn in the coastline at Point Conception, which is in Vandenberg Air Force Base. Some see this as the start of Southern California.

Dramatic scenery as Highway 1 joins 101 for the trip down to Gaviota State Park. Bicycles are legal on the freeway shoulder here as there is no other road. Shoulders are nice and wide.
