Description
English: Pavilion Gardens.
  • Head east down Church Street then through the north gate into the Royal Pavilion complex.
  • Initially this area was a small strolling park and a dairy farm on the other side of the road from the Royal Pavilion. The land was gradually acquired between 1795 and 1819 and was laid out as a garden once the road had shut from 1816. Sold to Brighton Corporation with the rest of the Pavilion Estate in 1850.
  • The gardens were restored to their original plan between 1985-87 though many trees were lost in the hurricane of 1987.
  • Now a popular park, particular at lunch times on hot days, with a cafe behind the trees at the western edge.
