DESCRIPTION Photograph of the paving of the Central Square (North Side) of Keene New Hampshire. "This was the first use of vitrified brick paving in Keene. It was laid by Field, Barker & Underwood, and the cost was $16,943.98. Despite the protests made against it at the time, this paving has proved to be one of the best things ever put in by the city."
