General Map of the Argentine Republic and part of the neighbouring Nations - 1887 This map, partially reproduced here, was drawn up under the direction of the geographer Mariano Felipe Paz Soldan and sketched by Carlos Bayer and Federico Block, geographic engineers. The map was made, as stated thereon, "on the basis of astronimic observations, charts, explanations by reputed authors and works published up to the beginning of this year of 1887". The international boundary is traced through the centre of the Beagle Channel, leaving Picton, Nueva and Lennox Islands and all the other islands and islets extending southwards as far as Cape Horn under Chilean sovereignty |
