English: Peasholm Gap
This photograph is looking toward Peasholm Gap (centre distance) from the Betty Muffet Rocks (foreground). Peasholm Gap is the short gap in the cliffs between Peasholm Park and the foreshore. Note the cliff tramway (TA038902) directly ahead and on the southern side of the gap. This tramway opened in 1930 and was dismantled in 1998. (See The Heritage Trail web site: http://theheritagetrail.co.uk/cliff_trams/scarborough_tramways.htm ) In the left far distance is Oliver's Mount (TA038869) with its war memorial. The data given for the date taken is the processing date on the slide and therefore could have been taken several weeks earlier. - - - See also this photograph (2006) by Peter Church, 770347. |
