Summary edit

Description
English: Peat exposure Ancient tree roots exposed by peat digging and subsequent water erosion. There is evidence of substantial peat digging around Asfold Gill Head, where the peat is up to 2 metres thick. There are some broad "peat passes" reminiscent of those on Dartmoor. Presumably the peat was taken for fuel to the mineworkings lower down the valley.
