Summary

Description	Volunteers gather round for a well-earned slice of pie. "Pedals vs. Pistons vs. Horseshoes vs. Hiking Boots" is an annual volunteer trail work event on the Flagstaff Ranger District. The event brings together four different forest user groups to work together to improve an area trail. The 2017 volunteer work project was the Upper Moto Trail on the San Francisco Peaks, a motorized, multi-use trail in the Fort Valley Trail System. Participants broke into work teams The event is put on by Flagstaff Biking Organization, Coconino Trail Riders, Coconino Horseman's Alliance, and Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association, with support and guidance by the Coconino National Forest Flagstaff Ranger District. This year Seeds of Stewardship brought a youth group of young men and women who are part of its Gear Girls and Peaks-to-Park programs to add to the "Pedals" participants. The group that brings in the most participants holds the trophy for the year. For 2017, Pedals (Flagstaff Biking Organization) reliquished the trophy to Pistons (Coconino Trail Riders).
