Description
The experts at Sotheby's called this a portrait of professor "Jacobsen". There were a number of those, but only - as far as the uploader knows - one professor Jacobson in 1918, namely the psychiatrist Daniel Jacobson (1861-1939). The inscription should have given the experts a hint. Professor Jacobson is quasi-famous in art circles, as Edvard Munch sketched and painted him while visiting Jacobson's clinic in 1908-09.
