Fallecimiento 25 de enero de 2024, Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Republica Dominicana. Gil Iturbides fue un reconocido periodista y académico dominicano de más de 65 años en la profesión. Obtuvo una Maestría en Planeación del Desarrollo Económico y Finanzas Públicas, Licenciado en Pedagogía Religiosa del Seminario Pontificio Santo Tomas de Aquino, realizó estudios de Derecho y Organización de Partidos, Organización de Campañas Electorales y otros en Chile, Venezuela, Alemania e Italia. Se inició como periodista en el diario La Nación en 1959 y luego fue reportero de Radio Caribe habiendo sido director de prensa de esa emisora en 1962, antes de retornar como editor de política en La Nación en el mismo año Fue fundador y luego director de la revista humorística Cachafú posteriormente y durante 20 años fue columnista del diario El Caribe. También fue fundador y editor del diario La Hoja antes de organizar y dirigir la programación y la estructura informativa de HIJB de 1969 a 1972. Fue director del periódico VOZ DIARIA, también dirigía la emisora Radio Universal, de 1972 a 1974 y desde 1962 estuvo produciendo distintos programas de radio y televisión. Fue Director de la Biblioteca Nacional, Vice Presidente Administrativo de la Cámara de Cuentas, Secretario General de la Liga Municipal Dominicana, Secretario de Estado de Educación Bellas Artes y Cultos, Director de la Escuela de Periodismo de la Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo ( UCSD ), Director Ejecutivo de la Asociación Dominicana de Universidades ( ADOU ), fundó la Escuela de Administración Municipal y Consultor de Políticas Gil Iturbides ha publicado numerosos libros y folletos de temas históricos, de periodismo y de política. Entre los que se encuentran La Casa Discreta, Elección en la Encrucijada, Información y Relaciones Públicas Gubernamentales, Círculos de Lectura, Cabral un Gobierno de Decepción, Chabela, Retozos del Buen Amor. Usos, Costumbres, Creencias y Utensilios Dominicanos, De la Frustrante Pobreza al Bienestar Anhelado, entre muchos otros. Pedro Gil Iturbides además fue parte del cuerpo de asesores, mantenía una columna especializada en economía y política del periódico Hoy, así como editorialista ocasional de La Información.
