Deutsch: Vorderseite: Cista mystica mit Schlange umgeben von einer Efeugirlande.

Rückseite: Zwei sich aufrichtende Schlangen, zwischen ihnen ein Köcher, l. Monogramm aus Π, P und E (für Pergamon). Im r. F. außen ein sitzender Adler.

Kommentar: Als Cistophoren bezeichnet man eine Gruppe von Silbermünzen im Gewicht von 3 attischen Drachmen oder römischen Denaren zu etwa 12 g. Ihren Namen tragen sie nach dem Korb auf der Vorderseite, aus dem eine Schlange hervorkriecht. Sie wurden in Pergamon unter Eumenes II. für das pergamenische Reich als überstädtische Währung eingeführt. 16 Städte erhielten das Prägerecht für das Silbergeld. Kistophoren wurden über das Ende des pergamenischen Reiches hinaus auch in der Provinz Asia durch die römischen Prokuratoren bis etwa 67 v. Chr. geprägt.
