Summary edit
DescriptionPetanque Statue, Bond Court, Leeds - geograph.org.uk - 112778.jpg |
English: Petanque Statue, Bond Court, Leeds. A surprise in one of the squares in the centre of Leeds, is a small petanque court, complete with this group which demonstrates a good technique at the game. There is also a noticeboard with rules and guidelines for those who are not familiar with the game. Or you could just play it to the rules of crown green bowls, a more familiar game around here. The equipment is kept in the sandwich shop in the background. The sculptor is Roger Burnett, born in Northowram and with a studio in Sowerby Bridge. There's another statue that looks like one of his by the canal at Sowerby Bridge, see SE0623.
This statue is found in Bond Court, at the end of Russell Street between Park Row and East Parade. |
