Peter Rühmkorf (1929 – 2008) studierte Germanistik und Psychologie in Hamburg und schrieb ab 1953 unter Pseudonym für den „studentenkurier“ (später „konkret“) die Kolumne „Lyrikschlachthof“. 1958-63 war er Verlagslektor, 1964/65 Stipendiat der Villa Massimo in Rom. Er hielt Gastvorlesungen in den USA, war Gastdozent an der Universität Paderborn, Ehrendoktor der Universität Gießen und Freier Schriftsteller. Rühmkorf wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet: Erich-Kästner-Preis (1979), Bremer Literaturpreis (1980), Arno Schmidt-Preis (1986), documenta-Schreiber Kassel ( 1987), Heinrich-Heine-Preis (1988) und den Georg-Büchner-Preis (1993).
