English: Peter Walter (born 1954), German-American molecular biologist and biochemist, professor at the University of California, San Francisco. Known for his work on protein folding and targeting as well as signal recognition. Co-author of the text book Molecular Biology of the Cell edited by Bruce Alberts. Member of the National Academy of Sciences and recipient of the Gairdner Award.
