Note the separated exit doors in the middle of this vehicle -- a key recognizable feature of a Peter Witt trailer.
Back in the days when labour was cheap, loading times were optimized by delaying payment until riders exited or moved to the rear of the car (where there were more seats). Passengers boarded by the front door, and the conductor sat between the two doors collecting fares.
