Summary

Description
English: A tiny running crab spider (family Philodromidae) molting on a pine tree in Marilyn Bell Park.

In the video, it pumps its hemolymph (arthropod "blood") to make its carapace, the top half of its head segment, pop off. Then it gradually pulls its legs free. It hangs still for a while with its legs stretched straight out, then scrunches and twists them this way and that. It then rights itself and rests on the bark, tottering unsteadily on its new legs. At the end of the video it quickly gets its bearings and scoots under the bark. The whole process took maybe 20 minutes.

You can hear red-winged blackbirds screeching throughout the video, and the jangle of people playing disc golf in the background. At 6:29 a tiny clover mite (Bryobia sp.) passes by and sits by the molting spider.
