  • Significance: Largest nineteenth century sugar plantation still intact in the United States. // Fronting Bayou LaFourche about two miles south of Thibodaux on Louisiana Highway 308 is Laurel Valley Plantation, the largest intact sugar plantation in operation. It consists of approximately 3002 acres and over 75 buildings.
