Description

PHULKARIS:

Phulkaris are home spun earth -coloured cotton cloth closely embroidered with bright yellow and orange silk.

Though from 1849 the sikh state ceased to exit yet in the villages the traditional ways and crafts were long resistance to change and the Jat women still tended their fields and flocks while spinning the phulkaris.

The phulkari textile on display measures 75x300 cms and has a blue background woth yellow floral pattrens and mirror work .It is databled to the 20 th century.
