Physcia dubia (Hoffm.) Lettau, 1912

Photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x8), showing soralia and soredia on the tips of lobes.

[Lower surface white; upper cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-; lobes distinctly up-turned with soredia in lip-shaped soralia]

This specimen of Physcia dubia was growing on a rock in a cemetery in Steuben, Washington County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o31' N,   Long. 67o58' W).

Collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-199, 15 Jun 2001).
